Spectacular Swirling Sand & Surf

It's been an exceptionally warm week. Even the locals are talking about the temperatures that've ranged from the mid to high seventies. Yesterday the mercury reached 80F, and while I'm not complaining, I did feel a little parched. Sort of like this prickly pear cactus that hugs a building just down the road. It's about six feet wide and three feet high, so it's been there quite awhile.

At the opposite end of the beach, closer to St. Andrews State Park, the natural vegetation struggles to reclaim the dunes. Signs are posted along the beach urging people to stay off the dunes and adhere to the Leave No Trace policy.

Did you know PCB is located at the eastern edge of the Central Time Zone? The sun sinks below the horizon well before 5:00 PM. (Today it'll be 4:42.) This was how it looked from our balcony yesterday.

This final photo inspired the title for this post. Swirling. Sand and Surf. Spectacular!

  1. Yikes, dark by 5 pm. Eeek. At least it isn't that bad here. No yet anyway. But only another 9 days and it's the shortest day of the year, so there's hope around the corner. Love the pics.
