Warsaw Caves & Kettles

Our farm hosts are back from their trip to England, and today we walked the trails at Warsaw Caves Conservation Area.

We started off right by the river, and then walked higher in elevation for about 3 km. to the lookout below. The view was spectacular!

From here we retraced our steps to the kettles. These large holes in the rocks were ground by rushing water over a boulder on rock over centuries and centuries. Doug actually climbed inside this kettle (below), but by that time the battery died in my camera and I couldn't snap his pic!

The vistas in the area were surprisingly steep. I asked John to stand on the precipice to give some idea of how high up he was on the rock face.

We also spotted this amazing burl. You can see from its size compared to Doug it was impressive.

From there we drove to Young's Point, and then to the guys' cottage on Indian River. In all, a great day!
