Shades of Grey

We enjoyed our outing to Goulet Park on Lake Nipissing this past August and while every colour of the rainbow was visible this summer, today's hues were mainly shades of grey.

With overcast skies and gusts off the lake that chilled to the bone, at first glance it paled in comparison. Then, its rugged beauty revealed itself. Talk about awesome!

Keegan was equally impressed, although perhaps not so much with the scenery as we were. He met another terrier and they exchanged a few woofs and tail wags, apparently catching up on the latest doggy news. Honestly, if there had been a park swing available they would have sat down and talked for hours about every cat and dog in North Bay, including these two.

Once the conversation ended, and because he knows and understands that I don't run (as in I. Don't. Run. E.V.E.R.) he insisted John take his lead. Soon, the two of them raced along the snow covered brick path with wild abandon, and left me far behind. I used the opportunity to snap some more photos. This birch tree caught my attention and of course made me think of RL!

Returning home, we headed to the backyard mid-afternoon to throw a few snowballs and play in the snow. Keegan noticed these mallards before we did.

While nature may be focusing on shades of grey, winter decorations are anything but. This wreath with its soft rose lacy ribbon and springs of flower clusters is simple, yet elegant.

And then there is this guy in his bright red suit.

So much for Shades of Grey!
