Super Southwestern Ontario Housesit

We've just completed our 24th - or is it 25? - housesit and it was a joy and delight on so many levels, including the perfectly appointed home, gorgeous surrounding 50 acres and adorable pets (4 cats, 1 dog, 2 horses).

What's unique is after ten days we completed our first "handover" to housesitters, Mark and Alan, as the homeowners were enjoying an extended stay at a rental cottage in Muskoka. It was a pleasure to hand over the keys to such competent and seasoned housesitters.

But back to the housesit proper and incredible gardens. It really was a gorgeous location as shown in this garden and wizard header photo. The weather was typical for southern western Ontario in the summer - hot and humid. Thank goodness for the pool!

Adding to the picturesque location are the horses, Whit and Smoke.

A couple of mornings the haze provided additional atmosphere and a great photo opportunity while John took water down to the horses. Ever close at his heels was Julie.

Three of the cats are so identical in markings they could be triplets, while the fourth, Timmie is not only a different colour, but also a little more elusive and sadly I didn't get a photograph.

The cats get along well with the dog, Julie, and even sleep together. On the morning we handed over the keys to Mark and Alan we spotted Julie giving one of the cats a 'bath'. Too cute!

Being housesitting fanatics we had a thoroughly fantastic time and as if often the case of a great housesit we were not ready to leave. We'd love to return and do it again and cannot thank Dave & Flo enough for such a wonderful ten days. We also spent a few days with them at the cottage.

The sunset on Lake Wah-Wash-Kesh says it all...good times, great friends, and a fantastic summer in Ontario. Life. Is. Good!
