While much of Canada dealt with record breaking low temperatures and lake affect snow squalls during the holiday season we hunkered down in Attleborough, Norfolk, England with Gorgeous George.
This is our second time housesitting for homeowners Chris and Sheila (details of our May 2016 visit HERE) and we can't thank them enough for inviting us to return to their lovely home while they visit their son and daughter-in-law in New Zealand.
As much as we love to travel (2017 found us on the road and away from home more than any previous year) there comes a moment when the urge strikes to stay put and simply enjoy the comforts of home.
So, with that thought in mind, the final ten days of 2017 were quiet and perhaps even uneventful and that suited both John and I perfectly.
We ventured no further than downtown Attleborough which is a pleasant 30-minute walk (one way).

I caught up on writing blog posts, crocheting and simply enjoying each quiet moment. (I also binge watched season two of The Crown on Netflix!)
John read, surfed the net, brushed and pampered George and doned his chef hat, making a delicious Christmas day feast which was another treat as our past few Christmases have not included the traditional holiday fare.
In between Christmas and New Years we also celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary. We've always been rather low key when it comes to such milestones and again that's our preference, but thanks to John we enjoyed a quiet evening with another amazing home cooked meal topped off with a lovely bottle of prosecco.
Meanwhile, George also took life easy during the holidays. He either slept in the closet...I took this video in May 2016...
Or he watched us from his perch on top of the fridge (above), took up residence on the sofa for a nap or just lounged on a warm lap.
He even likes the comfort of our bed!
Now that the new year is officially here we'll soon be off exploring the area, but for the holiday season we were quite content to stay put with Gorgeous George!
